An exploration in the city of Ghent in collaboration with the KU Leuven Faculty of Architecture campus Sint- Lucas Ghent. Under the title HADES // City of Ghent // Future // Subterranean navigations within the project Fragile Production 9 x 9’ x 9000 initiated by the Faculty of Architecture, TMML explored the city of Ghent above and below ground. This four-day workshop involved ninety-nine students. The project resulted in a cadavre exquis with images of the city in the form of a long model exceeding twenty metres. This served as the setting for the shooting of a short animation film. In it, a searching camera explores the city. Shot mostly in black-and-white and supported by an oppressive, rather threatening soundtrack, images of the city were presented that were both familiar (the Castle of the Counts, the Belfry, the cathedral) and unfamiliar (row houses, a fairground, details such as paving stones).
